USATF CT Road Championships 2023-2024 – October 20, 2022
In November USA Track & Field Connecticut (USATF CT) will designate up to eight races to be state road championships each year for the next two-years (2023 and 2024). As in the past at these races teams from Connecticut clubs will compete for prize money from each race. That prize money will be augmented by additional funds from USATF CT. We ask those of you who control a race or races to submit your race(s) you wish to have considered for designation as a championship.
Benefits to the race include: 1. Prestige of designation as a Connecticut Championship; 2. Additional registrants because the race is part of the series (in 2022 the average was 96 runners per series race who were USATF CT members); 3. Promotion by running clubs throughout Connecticut urging their members to run for teams and 4. Waiver of the Connecticut portion of the sanction fee.
The requirements are: 1. The course used race day will have a current USATF certification; 2. The race will be sanctioned by USATF each year and 3. Within 15 days after race day each year the race will contribute $1,000 in prize money to USATF CT.
Please email me by November 4th, 2022 the names of the race(s) you are submitting, your best estimate of the dates each race will be conducted in 2023 and 2024, any plans to alter the course from the one used in 2022 and any other plans for significant changes (from 2022). For races not conducted in 2022 just send a race name and two dates. I will get back to you for other information we will use to make our choices.
Some of you are familiar with USATF, our championship system, course certification and race sanctioning so I have not included explanations some people may not need. For more details on any part(s) of this message just let me know.

USATF CT Road Championships 2022 – December 5, 2021
In October 2019 USA Track & Field Connecticut (Usatf CT) designated eight races to be state road championships for 2020 and 2021. Covid-19 disrupted most of these championships. Four of the designated races, listed below, are set to be in the 2022 series. The other four events have declined participation in 2022.
Usatf CT asks those of you who control a race or races to submit a race or races you wish to have considered for one of the four openings in the 2022 series. As in the past, at the eight races designated, teams from Connecticut clubs will compete for prize money from each race, augmented by additional funds from Usatf CT.

All teams who wish to score at any race must be current USATF-CT teams and each scoring member must be a current USATF-CT member.
Scoring is done by net time rounded up to the nearest whole second. A cumulative time from each scoring runner will equal the team’s time. Runner’s may score down in any division, but not up. For example a 50 year-old can score as a Grand Master, Master and Open Runner; a 34 year old can only score in the Open division.
